NYPD Driver Hits Man After BMW Driver Ran Him Over in Bronx

Police told Gothamist the man had been in a fight shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday and was later seen unconscious and unresponsive on College Avenue in the Bronx. About 10 minutes later, police said, a driver in a white BMW SUV ran over him and left. A driver in a marked NYPD vehicle traveling about 12 mph then hit the man while he was still in the roadway. Police said the NYPD driver stayed and rendered aid, and the man was pronounced dead after reaching Lincoln Hospital. The department said it had made no arrests and the investigation was continuing.
