Police said the motorcycle rider and a 57-year-old box truck driver were both traveling west on Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside around 7:45 a.m. when the driver turned right onto 64th Street. The rider hit the passenger side of the turning truck, was thrown from his Kawasaki motorcycle, and died at the scene. The Daily News reported that video showed the driver first moving left toward the middle of Roosevelt Avenue before cutting right for the turn; police were also investigating whether the rider had been traveling between lanes. The driver remained at the scene, and police said no arrests had been made.
A morning turn on Roosevelt Avenue ended in a fatal crash
Police told the Daily News that the 25-year-old motorcycle rider and the 57-year-old box truck driver were both heading west on Roosevelt Avenue around 7:45 a.m. The driver made a right turn onto 64th Street, and the rider hit the passenger side of the turning truck.
The impact threw the rider from his Kawasaki motorcycle. Police said he died at the scene.
