Police identified the woman who died as Ramonita Colon, 72. The Daily News reported that she lived in Wakefield, more than three miles from the crash location.
A 32-year-old man who had been seated beside Colon was injured. Medics took him and the driver to Jacobi Medical Center, where both were expected to survive. City crash data also records two injured motorists.
