Police described two impacts on the parkway

Police said the man was crossing the Henry Hudson Parkway from east to west near West 151st Street around 6:45 p.m. when a 35-year-old driver in a Toyota Sienna hit him in the southbound left lane. Police told reporters the impact sent him onto the northbound side, where a 41-year-old driver in a Dodge Durango hit him in the left lane.

First responders took the pedestrian to Harlem Hospital with severe head and body trauma, and he was pronounced dead there.

The victim had not been publicly named in the reviewed reports

The city crash record lists the person killed as a 31-year-old male pedestrian. News reports based on police statements said investigators were still working to identify him in the days after the crash.

Records and reports describe the vehicles differently

Police told reporters the first driver was in a 2025 Toyota Sienna minivan and the second driver was in a 2022 Dodge Durango. The official crash record classifies both involved vehicles as station wagon or sport utility vehicles and records both drivers as licensed men traveling straight ahead, one southbound and one northbound.

Police said both drivers remained at the scene. The Daily News reported that neither driver had been charged as the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad began its inquiry. News reports said the crash caused extensive delays and halted traffic on both sides of the parkway for several hours.
