Pickup Driver Charged After Queens Cyclist Xi Zheng Dies
City records say a 48-year-old bicyclist was killed Jan. 20 at Sanford Ave. and 160th St.; police later said Quinn Daly hit Xi Zheng while turning a Ford F-150 and charged him with failure to yield.

What We Know
The city crash record says the Queens crash happened at 10:02 a.m. and killed one bicyclist, a 48-year-old man. The record lists the pickup driver as making a right turn and the bicyclist as traveling west. The Daily News identified the bicyclist as Xi Zheng and reported that police said Quinn Daly, 23, was driving a Ford F-150 south on 160th St. and turning right onto Sanford Ave. when he hit Zheng. Zheng was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, where he died. Daly stayed at the scene. Months later, police arrested Daly on a misdemeanor charge of failure to yield to a pedestrian, a charge Zheng's relatives called too light.
A right turn and a westbound ride ended in a fatal crash
The city crash record says the crash happened at 10:02 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2026, at Sanford Ave. and 160th St. in Queens. It records one death: a 48-year-old male bicyclist.
Police told the Daily News that Xi Zheng was traveling west on Sanford Ave. when Quinn Daly, 23, was driving a Ford F-150 south on 160th St. and turning right onto Sanford Ave. The later Daily News account said Daly hit Zheng during that turn.
Relatives described Xi Zheng as a daily bike commuter
The Daily News identified the bicyclist as Xi Zheng. His nephew Jacky Huang said Zheng was on his way to work and “always biked to work.”
A later Daily News report said Zheng was a father of two. Hui Huang, another nephew, described the family as “extremely distraught” and called Zheng “a good guy, family man.”
The driver stayed, then faced a misdemeanor charge months later
The Daily News reported the day after the crash that the driver stayed at the scene and that police had not filed criminal charges at that time.
In May, the Daily News reported that police arrested Quinn Daly on a misdemeanor charge of failure to yield to a pedestrian. The report said the charge carried a maximum penalty of 30 days in jail and a $250 fine.
Family members blamed the turning driver
Zheng’s relatives told the Daily News they wanted justice. Jacky Huang said Zheng was in the bike lane and that the driver on 160th St. was making a right turn. Hui Huang later told the paper the misdemeanor charge was “quite light for what he did.”
